郎世宁（1688-1766），意大利人，原名朱塞佩·伽斯底里奥内，生于米兰，在中国从事绘画达50多年。
郎氏擅以中国传统绘画技法加入西洋光影透视法及西画颜料，以显示中西趣味兼容并蓄的画面。如画中马匹、树木、土坡皆应用了光的原理，使物象极富立体感；马匹及树干上的阴影表现，亦是以中国传统的渲染方法来完成。颇有杜甫诗咏画马的境界:“须臾九重真龙出,一洗万古凡马空。”

Lang Shining (1688-1766), the Italian, formerly known as Giuseppe Gasstirio, was born in Milan and has been painting in China for more than 50 years.
Lang's use of traditional Chinese painting techniques to join the Western Light and Shadow Perspective and Western Paint, to show the Chinese and Western tastes of the eclectic picture. In the paintings, the principles of light are applied to horses, trees, and slopes to make the objects look three-dimensional; the shadows on horses and trunks are also done in Chinese traditional rendering methods. There is quite a realm of Du Fu's poetry and poetry painting: "There must be a nine-fold real dragon, and one washes the ancient horse."
