范曾（1938.7.5-），字十翼，别署抱冲斋主，江苏南通人，民盟成员，中国当代大儒、思想家、国学大师、书画巨匠、文学家、诗人，是当代中国集诗书画、文史哲、儒释道于一身的文化大家。

全幅作品尺幅巨大，画面描绘两人物，一位老子，一位孩童。画面构图严谨，左边老者伸出右手似乎在指点迷津，右边孩童天真的把脑袋伸向左边的老子似乎在倾听者有趣的故事。人物线条优美，用了大量的留白，只是用线条勾勒出人物衣物的轮廓和神态表情，虽然没有更多的修饰，却更显清净素雅，和老子演绎的主题不谋而合。除此之外，人物的表情也是把握的很准确，老子的恬静坦然和孩童的天真无邪产生了鲜明的对比。
